Women of Tanda: process and sell

Giving women’s groups the equipment, training and markets to process food crops and earn a better living from them.

Seeking partners

The challenge

Lacking storage and processing facilities, harvests are often sold raw, when prices are at their lowest. Women’s groups, though very dynamic, lack equipment.

Why it matters

Processing locally means creating value, jobs and income that women control.

Our ambition

Sustainably increase the income of Tanda’s women’s groups.

  • Strengthen the groups’ organisation.
  • Install shared processing equipment.
  • Improve quality and market access.

Who benefits

Women’s producer and processor groups in the department.

What we will do

  • Assessment with the groups.
  • Training in management and quality.
  • Installing shared equipment.
  • Connecting with buyers.

Expected results

  • Better-organised groups.
  • Quality products, sold better.
  • Higher incomes.

How we will measure impact

  • Groups and women supported.
  • Volumes processed and sold.
  • Change in income.

Where we stand

The project is ready to start with its first partners.
